At today’s Covid-19 press conference Governor Sununu announced the release of a centralized website to track Covid-19 cases in schools. The website lists every school across NH with information on the number of cases within that school. The site will also list if there are clusters of illness, and if the school has reached an outbreak status.
The governor took heat last week for not reporting on outbreaks at childcare centers. At that time the State had also indicated that it was not their practice to release any information about outbreaks in schools.
Last week Lori Shibinette said, “We did have a couple of clusters of illness in child care centers. We would announce outbreaks if there was a reason to notify the public.” This website is a giant leap in transparency.
Releasing the information is great for parents and teachers so they can make health choices for themselves.
Unfortunately, the site has already been plagued with difficulties. Slow response times and at the time we were publishing of this story the website was down and not responding. We wish we could have been showing you data but unfortunately, it is not available. Once the site is up and live, we will provide a detailed analysis of the functioning of the website.
