Russian action to poison the Russian Opposition politician Alexei Anatolievich Navalny

In a Press Briefing on Friday, United States President Donald Trump declined to condemn the Russian action to poison the Russian Opposition politician Alexei Anatolievich Navalny. While answering the question the President said that it was tragic and he will look into the matter, without saying anything to condemn Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United States President added that he does not have the exact information about the incident and then he does not have any proof as of yet but he will make sure to look into the matter. After this President Trump again moved towards his anti-China campaign suggesting that Russia doesn’t need to be involved in the matter. While suggesting the Chinese involvement Trump added ‘China at this point is a nation that you should be talking much more so’.

It should be noted that many leaders around the world, including the Trump administration, has condemned the use of nerve agents against Navalny and pinned the blame on the Russian government asking Putin for an answer.

Furthermore, the German officials have confirmed that NATO in-house lab results show that Navalny was ‘beyond doubt’ poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok in an assassination attempt.

Following the test results Russian Foreign Minister said that even if the opposition leader was poisoned with a nerve agent, the substance doesn’t need to originate from Russia.

Alexei Navalny is a well-known Putin critic and anti-corruption campaigner who has emerged as a prominent force in Russia. Navalny is currently in a Berlin hospital in the state of coma. He fell ill in Serbia and was airlifted to Germany.
