Paul Hodes is running for the New Hampshire District 15 State Senate seat. Hodes has been a US Congressman, community leader, lawyer, and performing artist. Now, he’s ready to serve as your New Hampshire Senator in District 15. He was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New Hampshire’s 2nd district in 2007-2011. Always a friend to the arts, President Obama appointed Hodes to the National Council for the Arts in 2012. Paul was kind enough to sit down and from a safe social distance of many miles via email, answer our 5 questions.
What cause are you most passionate about?
ANSWER: Tackling the existential threat of Climate Change.
What is one message you would like to give to your district?
ANSWER: I have the experience and focus on the future to get the results we need to recover from the Pandemic and help working families and small businesses see brighter days ahead.
What was your favorite toy as a kid?
ANSWER: Slot cars.
Where were you 3 hours ago and what were you doing?
ANSWER: I was at home answering another candidate questionnaire!
What advice would you give someone who is assuming an elected position for the first time?
ANSWER: Be patient with yourself and ask questions. Some folks describe the experience as “drinking through a fire hose.” When I served as a United States Congressman, never having served in elected office before, the joke going ‘round was “You spend the first six months wondering how you got there and then you spend the rest of your time wondering how they got there.”
